School Security Officer – Part TimeThe School Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the physical security of school facilities, students, staff, and visitors. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, the ability to respond effectively to emergencies, and excellent communication skills.Essential DutiesPatrol school grounds and buildings regularly to ensure safety.Monitor access points to the school.Conduct security checks of classrooms, offices, and other areas.Report any suspicious activity or security breaches.Respond promptly to emergencies, such as active shooter situations, medical emergencies, or natural disasters.Follow established emergency procedures and protocols.Coordinate with law enforcement and other emergency responders as needed.Conduct safety training and drills for students and staff.Promote a culture of safety and awareness within the school community.Greet and screen visitors to the school.Ensure that visitors comply with school policies and procedures.De-escalate conflicts and disputes that may arise.Resolve issues peacefully and effectively.Maintain open and effective communication with school administrators, staff, students, and parents.Report incidents and concerns to appropriate personnel.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and meet the minimum qualifications, including a high school diploma or GED equivalent and a valid driver's license.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in security or law enforcement. (not required)Strong physical fitness and the ability to respond to emergencies.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.CPR Certification.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
